This past 17 October, Iberia inaugurated their air connection between the cities of Madrid and Tokyo. This will bring Spain and Japan closer together, and will further strengthen relations between both countries.
The inaugural event was attended by the new Japanese Ambassador to Spain, Masashi Mizukami, the President of the Community of Madrid, Cristina Cifuentes, President of Iberia, Luis Gallego, and two-time world figure skating champion Javier Fernández, who was the Tourism Ambassador to Japan during the inaugural journey.
Iberia has scheduled three weekly flights, operating the route with its fleet’s most modern and efficient plane: the A330-200, with a 288-seat capacity. This translates into 90,000 seats being offered on this route per year.
With this new air connection, increased growth in tourism between both countries is expected.
